Behind The Grain
#Sorghum
Sorghum is a versatile grain that has been cultivated for centuries, valued for its resilience and nutritional benefits. This cereal crop is known for its drought tolerance, making it a reliable source of sustenance in arid regions. Sorghum is a staple food in many parts of the world, used in a variety of human and animal products.
Despite its humble appearance, sorghum is packed with nutrients such as fiber, protein, and antioxidants. It can be ground into flour for baking, popped like popcorn, or brewed into beverages like sorghum beer. With its mild flavor and gluten-free nature, sorghum has gained popularity as a nutritious alternative in various diets.
Harvest Season
Harvesting sorghum bears a notable resemblance to harvesting corn, albeit with a distinct header used for each. When it comes to Milo, the practice involves cutting the crop, while for corn, the process involves shelling. Despite this slight divergence in technique, both sorghum and corn harvesting require precision and care to ensure a successful yield.
In June of 2015, we welcomed buyers from China to our farm to witness firsthand the Milo they purchase. This direct interaction bridged geographical gaps and fostered a deeper understanding of our product. Such personal connections can often be the key to building lasting relationships and trust in business endeavors.

Change of Colors
When the fields start to change colors, the transformation of the milo heads is a sight to behold. Initially a vibrant green, they gradually shift to a soft yellow, then a warm orange, culminating in a deep red hue when they are ready for harvest. This beautiful progression mirrors nature's rhythm and signals the approaching season of reaping.
